( Serenoa Serrulata ) Saw palmetto is a small Palm Tree that grows wild in coastal regions of North America. Saw Palmetto was traditionally used as a food by the South Eastern American Indians and it has recently made headlines in the media as a treatment for enlarged prostrate in men. The therapeutic value of Saw Palmetto lies in it's berries which contain an unusual mix of fatty acids, phytosterols & alcohols that have been found to have a beneficial effect on the size and health of the prostrate. Enlargement of the can produce several uncomfortable symptoms such as difficult or frequent urination, interrupted sleep patterns due to frequent night time visits to the bathroom or incomplete emptying of the bladder.
